The Samsung HDSKY Sky+ HD Digibox is the latest of the range of high definition flow design from Samsung. When it was released, it went head to head with Pace TDS850NB (which was released at roughly the same time), but sales for both units remained strong. Apart from the strong market demand, Samsung's HDSKY+ HD Digibox and its Pace equivalent were definitely better than existing Thomson models.
For Samsung’s part, even as a new player in the Sky Digibox market, the company proved its mettle by offering outstandingly crisp and high-definition sound and picture. The company also made its box more reliable and durable. What more is that it partnered with BSkyB, or at least made its boxes highly compatible with the Satellite platform.
So what is up with this Samsung Digibox? Well, for one it is basically and essentially a plug and play device. You buy it, go home and get it out of the box, set it up, then call Sky to pair your card with it. And voila, you're all set. Samsung HDSKY Sky+ HD Digibox works well with Sky+, which you get with an existing subscription to the provider. This Digibox is perfect for the BSkyB satellite platform, specifically with Sky HD, with its outstandingly remarkable picture and sound, both on HD TV and standard TV.
And precisely because it is not a subsidized box, even without a Sky subscription, you can still enjoy the free HD channels like BBC HD, C4 HD and Luxe HD. But then again if you are not bound to get a Sky subscription, what is the point of getting this fine Digibox if you're not going to get at least the HD Mix (it is just an additional £10 monthly anyway).
Also, if you opt for a subscription, you get the Sky+ service, which allows you to record your favorite programs and pause live streaming TV. The Samsung HDSKY Sky+ HD Digibox has 320 gigabytes for you to be able to record all your favorite programs and not have to worry about watching it all forcing you to delete some unwatched content. All these gigabytes translate to as long as 150 hours of video, so you can basically record for more than six days non-stop. It looks great too, sleeker than most of its cousins from other manufacturers
The only thing I wish Samsung could have added to the HDSKY Sky+ HD Digibox was a built-in component outputs, so one would not have to buy a separate HDMI for HD viewing. But what is the trade-off for you to have this great product? As you might have guessed by now, the Samsung HDSKY Sky+ HD Digibox is currently unavailable. A visit to the Samsung UK Web site showed that it was not one of those being offered by the company online, while a lot of online retailers have flagged this Digibox as unavailable. Nobody knows when the next batches are going to be available, so when one goes on sale, grab it!
